SSI Introduces New Sphere Products

We've recently added 150 micron and 75 micron Standard Grade Cenospheres to our inventory. These products are currently available in 2000 lb. pallet bulk orders of 40 - 50 lb. bags per pallet.
In addition to the Cenospheres that continue to be SSI's signature sphere products, the company now also offers two additional specialized sphere products: VEA X-10 - pure white solid microspheres and Swarco Filler Spheres - solid soda lime glass spheres.
 
Public Service Activities

Tracy Wandell, President of Sphere Services, has long been involved in a variety of community and public service activities. In 2006, Wandell was elected a County Commissioner for Anderson County, Tennessee.

Tennessee Governor Bredesen took time to personally recognize the leaders of a Junior Achievement project in Clinton, TN - and is pictured here with Tracy and others.

Tracy joined his cousin for deer hunting in upstate New York late in 2006 and, after several days in the woods - with a corresponding growth of beard, he learned that he and his cousin (who is active in New York politics) were invited to meet and have dinner with New York Senator Hillary Clinton that evening. While he apologized for his appearance after several days in the woods, Ms. Clinton didn't mind - and appreciated their joining her for dinner that evening.

Concrete Countertops

A new and rapidly growing application of Cenospheres is in concrete countertops. Cenospheres have a variety of uses in concrete countertops, including as:

Sphere Services is now partnering with the Concrete Countertop Institute to promote wider use of Cenospheres in these products and participated in Concrete Countertop Industry Conference 2007 as a part of the Institute's ongoing educational endeavor for its members.

 

 

 
Sphere Services, Inc. Looks to International CCP Markets

During the last 5 years, the cenosphere industry has seen not only an increase in demand for its product but a decline in U.S. domestic availability of raw cenospheres. Sphere Services, Inc., a cenosphere marketing company located in Clinton, Tennessee, has been highly involved in an effort to link up with international suppliers to meet their customer requirements.

In June of 2005 year, Tracy Wandell, President of Sphere Services, Inc. visited Poland as a part of his company's business initiatives. The trip was set up through the US Chamber of Commerce Knoxville, Tennessee and Warsaw, Poland offices. Mr. Wandell said of his trip that "…I visited Poland to determine if their cenosphere product could be considered for our customers." He found "...there is a tremendous opportunity for CCP by-products and markets in Poland."

"I met with the US Ambassador to Poland, Mr. Victor Ashe, who was very gracious, inviting our Knoxville group to dinner. Discussions were extremely positive, the Ambassador expressed his keen interest in our efforts." Mr. Wandell also met with the Chairman of the Polish CCP Union, Mr. Tomasz Szczygielski. "My discussions with Mr. Szczygielski were also very constructive. I was previously aware of his ongoing initiatives to promote international CCP trade, but our talks added to my opinion of his abilities and awareness of mutual CCP concerns and markets."

Mr. Wandell also said "…the visit was interesting to say the least. The main message I can offer to ACAA's membership as a result of this trip is to consider Poland! I urge the membership to contact Ambassador Ashe's office to see if there may be opportunities for you to introduce or grow your business in Poland. Poland is a member of the European Union now and is very well positioned. I believe U.S. utilities, not only marketers, can benefit from consulting and potential investments."

Closing, he summarized by saying "look abroad for more opportunities!"

 
Partners In Education (PIE)

Sphere Services is an active participant in Partners in Education in support of Claxton Elementary School.

Bull Run’s PIE Golf Tournament Raises $8,000 for Area School

Bull Run Fossil Plant’s 1st Annual Partners In Education Golf Tournament raised $8,000 for the plant’s PIE school, Claxton Elementary.

The school will use the money to address various school needs, which include library upgrades, computers, printers and furniture.

Twenty-six teams participated in the June 14 tournament, held at Centennial Golf Course in Claxton, Tenn.

Bull Run co-sponsored the tournament in conjunction with other PIE-related organizations, including the Optimist Club of Claxton, Sphere Services, True Value Hardware and Lookin’ Sharp Signs.

The Consolidated Pipe Team claimed first place, winning round-trip airline tickets to the destination of their choice within the United States. The tickets were donated by one of the sponsors.

All players received gifts in appreciation for their participation.

Tournament organizers thank all those who participated and the many sponsors who supported the tournament, with special thanks to Claxton Elementary students and parents, who served as volunteers at the event.

 
SSI Is Growing

As a result of our attention over the years to effectively meeting the needs of our customers, Sphere Services has become recognized in the industry as one of the most reliable and responsive suppliers of Cenospheres. This has resulted in significant growth in our business.

In planning for the future, SSI envisions the need for a new processing facility in East Tennessee within the next two years.
